OUR HISTORY Who We Are
The Wesley Center is a culmination of a 20 year dream to have a gathering place for United Methodists in the Louisiana Conference; a "spititual home" where lay and clergy can worship, work, fellowship and grow in their faith together.
The Annual Conference initiated specific planning in the early 1990's and purchased the land for the center. A capital funds campaign was conducted for the construction and was completed in 1995. After a few revisions to the original dream, the center was opened in 1996.
The Wesley Center is a major meeting and retreat destination. It's location has the advantage of both a close proximity to a major urban center at Alexandria and the unique beauty of a remote natural park setting in the middle of a pristine forest.
